About Constance
Constance Del Nero has been captivated by the visual arts for as long as she can remember. She likes to reminisce about a picture she drew when she was three that she called "Elevator Filled with Cough Drops and Buttons." Though this drawing has succumbed to the fate of most three-year-olds' art, Constance's curiosity and the love of expression that it represents have never waned. She feels that the true job of an artist is to notice and to record that noticing in a meaningful way. She finds cathedrals and cracks in the pavement equally worthy of interest.
Constance has enjoyed a long and varied career in the visual arts. She has a B.A. in Fine Arts from New York University and an M.Ed. in Art Education from Lesley University. In addition, she studied at the Art Students League in New York and the Accademia delle Arti Applicate in Milan, Italy. She has worked in colored pencil, graphite, pen, oils, mixed media, clay, printmaking, furniture decoration and assemblage. Constance has illustrated two books: Risotto, A Taste of Milan (Harper & Row) and The Essential Kitchen Gardener (Henry Holt). In 1999, she launched Narcissus, a crafts business featuring hand-painted and decorated framed mirrors (for more information, click on the "Narcissus" button). In 2009, she led a sketch-booking seminar in Tuscany. A new seminar is planned for 2010 (for more information, click on the "Matita Blu" button). She currently teaches drawing to children, teens and adults at ActonArt in Acton, MA (for more information, visit www.actonart.com). She has participated in over a dozen shows in the U.S. and in Italy. Her work is in private collections in both countries.
Constance is as drawn to writing as she is to the visual arts. In 2005, she started Words to Order, a copywriting service focused on newsletters, educational curricula, and advertising. Her client list includes: The Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, ActonArt, Bertucci's, Joseph's Gourmet Pasta and Sauces, Nestlé's USA, and Park Press Printers (for more information, click on the "Words to Order" button).
